For my fellow childhood trauma survivors.

This is why you deserve to give a chance to love.

If you, like me, are a childhood trauma survivor.

Then perhaps these words might resonate with you.

Because given what you and I have gone through in the past...

How could it feel safe to trust that we will always be loved?

--

The shadow of our childhood still hanging over us.

Of the times we craved care and love but were ignored, neglected or forgotten.

Or if you, like me, had someone you love just suddenly disappear.

Love feels fragile, love can hurt.

To spend years of our lives feeling uncertain about the people who meant to be there for us.

When it turns out that for some reason they just couldn't, wouldn't and wasn't there for us as much we hoped for?

Was it me?

Was it something I did?

Was there something innately wrong with me to deserve such a thing?

For you see, my fellow childhood survivors, we grew up with a broken concept of "love".

But I hope you heal.

I hope you move past this pain.

I hope soon, one day, you know what happened to you was never your fault.

That for whatever reason the people early in your life didn't have the capacity to show you the love you needed.

This DOESN'T mean you were never meant to be loved instead.

So heal.

Make space to allow for this experience you've always deserved.

Heal, so you don't turn away the ones who want to be there.

With love,

Hernping

P. S. To my wife.

For all the times I've self-sabotaged and projected this trauma. Thank you for always being there.

P. S. 2: to the alpaca lover. Thank you for the apple pen! You are deserving of love hor. Stop chasing cats and alpacas away.
